Xeomin is often called the “naked injectable” because it contains no accessory proteins, which may help prevent resistance over time. Botox tends to kick in a little faster for some. Both are effective, and the best choice depends on your goals, medical history, and past experiences.

The answer depends on your treatment goals, facial muscle strength, and the area being treated. While the exact number varies from person to person, the FDA-recommended dosage guidelines for Forehead (Frontalis) is 10–20 units, Between the brows (Glabellar or 11s) is 20 units, and Eye wrinkles (Crow’s feet) may need 12 units per side. Xeomin follows similar unit guidelines to Botox. During your consultation, we’ll evaluate your facial expressions and create a custom treatment plan to ensure you get natural-looking, balanced results. 

Best age to start Botox is typically anywhere from your late 20s to 40s, depending on your goals. Many patients in their late 20s or early 30s choose preventative Botox to help slow the formation of fine lines, while others in their 40s and beyond use it to soften existing wrinkles and refresh their look. 

Please note: If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, Botox and Xeomin are not recommended. We always recommend waiting until after pregnancy or nursing before beginning any neuromodulator treatments. 

Do's and Don'ts Before your appointment (Pre-treatment)

• No alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours prior to treatment (thins the blood and increases the risk of bruising)
• No Smoking/Vaping 1 week prior to treatment
• Avoid Anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications if possible, for 2 weeks prior
• Consult with Physician prior
• Schedule injection appointments 1 month prior to any special events
• Reschedule if any there's active skin infections, cold sores, or plan to have dental work in the near future
• Come to your appointment with a clean face, no make up if possible 

After your appointment (Post-treatment)

• Keep your head elevated above your heart for at least 6 hours after treatment.
• Do not use vigorous massage, and avoid pressure in treated areas unless otherwise told by the provider (baseball caps, getting a massage, etc.)  
• Skip the gym for 24 hours 
• Avoid rubbing or touching the treated areas
• Keep your face makeup-free for a few hours 
• Skip alcohol and blood thinners for the day 
• Minor bumps or redness? Totally normal. 
• Full results take 7–14 days
